Hugh Jackman to host Tony Awards 2014

hugh-jackmanRenowned actor Hugh Jackman will host the ‘68th Annual Tony Awards’, and this year’s involvement will mark his fourth time presence as emcee of Broadway’s biggest night. The ceremony will take place on Sunday, June 8, at Radio City Music Hall in New York City.

Jackman has previously hosted three Tony Awards from 2003-2005. He garnered an Emmy Award for hosting in 2004, and he got a nomination in 2005. “We are thrilled to have Hugh Jackman return to host the Tony Awards. Hugh is the ultimate performer — actor, singer and dancer — he does it all, second to none. He is a consummate entertainer and the one you want out there hosting your live television event”, said Jack Sussman, executive vp specials, music and live events at CBS Entertainment.

Hugh Jackman is a beloved figure in the Broadway community. The actor won the 2004 best actor in a musical Tony for The Boy From Oz, and most recently starred in the 2011 song-and-dance show, “Hugh Jackman: Back on Broadway”. He also starred opposite Daniel Craig in the 2009 Broadway play “A Steady Rain”. His efforts to raise money and awareness of the charity Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS were recognized with a special Tony Award in 2012.
