‘The Closer We Get’ to receive its European Premiere
The 69th edition of the highly reputed Edinburg International Film Festival is scheduled from June 17th – 28th, 2015. The festival is considered to be one of the top notch film events in the continent, and it will be blessed with the presence of some eminent personalities in World Cinema. The recent news from the corner is regarding screening documentary, ‘The Closer We Get‘ in this year’s festival.
The screening is expected to take place on June 18th, and it will mark the European Premiere of this documentary. Karen Guthrie has directed this film, and it is produced by Guthrie and Nina Pope.
The documentary was recently screened at the HotDocs Toronto, and there, it won the Best International Feature Documentary Award.
The documentary is basically an autobiographical picture of the director himself. Guthrie returns to his home to take care of her mother Ann after she suffers from a stroke. At this juncture, he faces his father who is separated from Ann long back.
The director faced problems in funding the movie during the initial days, and at this time, Arts Council England, Creative Scotland, Splice and 333 Indiegogo funders helped him to meet the needs.
The documentary will have its UK release on September.
