Anupama Chopra named Mumbai Film Festival director
This year’s Mumbai Film Festival is scheduled from October 29th – November 5th. The recent news from this corner is regarding the finalization of festival director. Renowned film critic and author Anupama Chopra has been named as the Festival Director, while filmmaker Kiran Rao will head the board of trustees.
Smriti Kiran has been named as the creative director for this year’s festival. Anu Rangachar is the head of International Programming while Prasad Khatu has been named as Deputy Programmer.
Anupama Chopra was a lively member in last year’s Mumbai Film Festival as the creative director. This year, the dashing lady moves a step ahead, and will head the whole festival. Her main mission will be finding a long term and sustainable fund for the festival.
Last year’s festival director Srinivasan Narayanan will pay his attention on academic and distribution ventures this year.
Kiran Rao is the better half of Aamir Khan. The lady director who shot to fame with her movie, ‘Dhobi Ghat’ also produces films and television soaps through Aamir Khan Productions. This year, she will head the MAMI board which comprises of Anurag Kashyap, Farhan Akhtar, Karan Johar, Deepika Padukone, Riteish Deshmukh, Mahindra Group chairman Anand Mahindra, PVR chairman Ajay Bijli and Disney India managing director Siddharth Roy Kapur.
