Woody Allen, one of the most demanded filmmakers in the International Film Industry is now gearing up with his new project which is titled, ‘Irrational Man‘. The recent news about this movie is regarding the teaming up of Sony Pictures Classics with the director for the eighth time. Official reports claim that Sony Pictures Classic has picked up the theater distribution rights of this movie.
‘Irrational Man’ stars Jamie Blackley, Joaquin Phoenix, Parker Posey and Emma Stone in the lead roles.
Woody Allen‘s latest release, ‘Magic In the Moonlight’ was also released by Sony Pictures Classics. The movie collected more than 32 million USD from theaters worldwide. ‘Blue Jasmine’, the much acclaimed film which garnered Cate Blanchett an Academy Award was also distributed by SPC.
“Sony Classics and I have a good working relationship. I like the way they handle my movies, very special, very classy and I always hope my films live up to their expectations”, said Woody Allen in a recent talk.
The 65th edition of the much reputed Berlin Film Festival is scheduled from February 5-15 2015. One of the major highlight of Berlinale is the presentation of ‘Berlinale Camera awards’. This year, Film Historian Naum Kleiman and Director Marcel Ophuls has been selected to receive this honor.
Marcel Ophuls is a renowned documentary maker known for his works which explores the history of holocaust. He won the Academy Award in 1988 for ‘Hotel Terminus: The Life and Times of Klaus Barbie’ which showcased the life of the infamous Gestapo commander. ‘The Sorrow and the Pity’ of 1969 fetched him an Oscar nomination.
“Marcel Ophuls’ oeuvre has contributed significantly to the investigation of anti-Semitism. The Memory of Justice is also a reminder that we must never stop examining the question of collective and individual responsibility”, said Dieter Kosslick, the Festival director.
Naum Kleiman on the other hand is considered as Russia’s most celebrated and acclaimed film historian. In October 2014, he along with the entire staff of the Moscow Cinema Museum gave resignation as a part of the protest against new state-appointed director.
Ophuls will receive the award on February 11, while Kleiman will be honored on February 12, 2015.
The Glendale International Film Festival and Velvet Rhodes Productions have organized a Freedom Screenplay Reading Contest on February 18, 2015. This is considered as an ongoing event for screenwriters, and the last date of submitting screenplay is February 10, 2015.
The event will be conducted from 07:00 PM – 10:00 PM at MGN Five Star Cinema, 128 N. Maryland Avenue, Glendale.

The Le Festival Ramdam, one of the known film festivals in Belgium has been cancelled following a serious terrorist threat. The festival was scheduled from January 21-27th at Tournai, Belgium was called off after receiving a series of terrorist threats from nowhere.
Law authorities in the city claimed that the attack threat was at a ‘very high level’, and the event has been called off for the betterment of public security. The Police has already evacuated the Imagix theater, and they are planning it to close till January 28th.
The inclusion of Abderrahmane Sissako‘s Oscar-nominated feature ‘Timbuktu’ in the screening lineup is considered to be the main reason behind the terrorist threat. The film showcases the dreaded deeds of militant Islamic rebels in West Africa. Acclaimed documentary, ‘Essence of Terror’ was also the part of screening lineup.
After the Charlie Hebdo attack, even the minute terrorist threat has been dealt seriously by the officials throughout Europe.
The International Film Festival of Rotterdam began in style on January 21, 2015. The festival opened with the screening of ‘War Book’ directed by Tom Harper.
The opening ceremony was packed with some eminent personalities in World Cinema, and some of the noted ones include, renowned Koran Filmmaker Jang Jin, well known Canadian artist and filmmaker Michael McClure and Romanian artist Irina Botea.
During his welcome speech, the festival director Rutger Wolfson welcomed the guests in the most elegant manner.

Simple messages that reduce the complex reality of our times. Messages that aim to clarify, define and determine the world around us. The festival also holds a sidebar which is named ‘What the F’. This sidebar aims to find the definition of Feminism in today’s world. “It seems that feminism is no longer a strict dogma but rather a popular, individual and quite interesting mix of ideas and ideologies”, said Wolfson.
The film festival will run through February 1, 2015.

Frank Marshall, renowned American producer and filmmaker has been selected as the “Golden Eddie Filmmaker of the Year“. The award will be presented during the 65th annual ACE Eddie Awards which is scheduled on January 30, 2015 at the Beverley Hilton Hotel.
Winning the Golden Eddie Filmmaker of the Year award is undoubtedly one of the most reputed achievements which a filmmaker can procure in his career. The previous winners of this award include big names like, Steven Spielberg, Norman Jewison, Alexander Payne, George Lucas, Francis Ford Coppola, Martin Scorsese, Saul Zaentz and Paul Greengrass.
“Frank Marshall has helped shape American film. Mr. Marshall has made and continues to make a profound and indelible contribution to the cinematic landscape”, said the ACE board of directors in a statement.
Frank Marshall started his career in 1971 as a location manager. In 1991, Marshall along with his wife Kennedy formed ‘The Kennedy/Marshall Company’. In 2012, Marshall became the sole principal of the company while Kennedy became the chairman of Lucasfilm.
Now, he is busy with the production of ‘Jurassic World’ which is the fourth installment in the highly popular ‘Jurassic Park’ series. The film is expected to hit the screens on June 12, 2015.
